Experience
After an active period as a sideman, leader, and composer in the Boston jazz scene, as well as regular work as a solo classical guitarist, and with Duo Entracte (flute/guitar), Mr. Johnson moved to New York City in 1995, where he performed with the Bryan Steele Group and his own quartet and trio. He now lives on the island of Martha's Vineyard, with his wife and daughter. Eric has written and produced four CDs with Crosscurrent, performs on Bryan Steele's debut CD, and has a CD with his Boston quartet, featuring the late great Jazz drummer and Dave Brubeck sideman Alan Dawson. His latest recording with the great tenor saxophonist George Garzone features the music of the under appreciated bebop-era pianist Herbie Nichols. Some critic's comments:"This could very well become my choice for CD of the year -- it's that good." - John Crossett, Soundstage.com "The best jazz album I've heard yet this year." Adam McKibbin, Suite101.com "...ranks as one of the year's best CDs." - Bob Young, Boston Herald
