CLASSICAL GUITARI spent a total of 7 years in the conservatory environment, so I have a good understanding of the classical music tradition. I've played quite a bit of music from the Elizabethan period, which sounds great with flute, by the way. I've also performed Bach transcriptions for the guitar, works for the guitar from the Classical period, chamber music from the Romantic period, etc. I've also played modern classical music (so I know what you DON'T want for your wedding!).
Many people associate the classical guitar with Segovia, and especially with the Spanish repertoire. I love this music, as well as Latin American music, but there is a vast repertoire for the guitar. It's a very versatile instrument, and has much to offer for the curious music lover.
JAZZ GUITAR and UPRIGHT BASS
Playing Jazz has been the main focus of my musical life since I was a teenager. My main influences for straight-ahead jazz guitar are Jim Hall and Wes Montgomery. My all-time favorite Jazz musicians are Bill Evans (piano), Sonny Rollins(tenor saxophone), Miles Davis (trumpet), and Thelonious Monk (piano). If you love Jazz, these names are very familiar to you and you know where I am coming from.
I love to play melodic, swinging jazz standards and I seek out sidemen who do as well. For parties and receptions I know that when the customer hires a Jazz group they want music that feels good, makes their feet move, and reflects the great melodic tradition of Tin Pan Alley's great composers (Gershwin, Porter, Kern, etc.).
